that’s part of it, but i was thinking moreso in the way that devil-tigers were manifesting their own titans/primordials in pieces, one charm at a time from the ground up, slowly working from a like, person with demonic powers into a fully-fledged titan complete with world-body, giant monster-body, and a soul hierarchy (with relevant servitor beings)
so like, going from manifesting your demonic powers as a magical girl to manifesting them as a witch, was more in line with what i meant, but that does line up very much with how that manifests your inner demons into outer demons, though the point of the devil-tigers was very much that they weren’t really demons because you, well, never made surrender oaths to be a yozi
I really like the way they’re presented in Exigents. They’re tragic, horrifying, and genuinely monstrous in a way that’s hard to reconcile with being a good person. And they add a really interesting legimitacy to the Usurpation/Solar Purge; the Exalted Host rose up once before when one of their own was too monstrous for the world. Why not again?
I actually really like the presentation of their charms and powers that aren’t directly related to taking Pawns. The auroras, opals, being beautiful and cruel monsters… It helps set them apart from like, Ant And Starfish Lunars or God-Familiar hoarding Sidereals. On top of the terrifying and yet simple way their Pawn-taking manifests.
I feel like seeing their powers though, I see why the devs said they were the hardest to work into a mixed circle, or play as heroes. They work really well as tragic NPC’s and villains.
I dunno, they’re really cool and I wanna see more of them, they just aren’t really geared towards being player-oriented IMO? Which hurts their chances of leaving Aprocryphal status. That said, they fit such an important niche in the setting that I’m not shocked that they’re popular, and I’m sure they’ll find a home in many games.
@prokopetz asked for a Beholder Touhou girl so I made one to make up for how annoying I’ve been!
Her name is Beauty B. Belladonna and she’s an American Youkai created during the Satanic Panic, making her much newer than like, 90% of Youkai in Touhou. Somehow, she ended up in Gensokyo before the lack of belief in Satanic cults and demonic possession caused her death. She has different powers in each of her eyes, but her main ability is the ability to manipulate “sensation.” If she gets you, she can manipulate any of your senses - a sort of personal illusion deal.

Ok I feel the need to specify that these are roleplay blogs for a furry webcomic and that this poll takes place within said furry webcomic. Their world is entirely furries. None of these are real names for kiddy cones. The joke is that since it’s a world full of a bajillion different species with a bajillion different terms for their kids that they don’t have one specific name for the cone. Am I making sense.
